Rui Costa has won his second stage of the Tour de France. Again winning solo from the break with a minute over the nearest competitor.
The day began with a huge break of 40 riders getting away from the peloton and really pushing the pace, when Ryder Hesjedal went off in search of long range glory. Joining him was Pierre Rolland who was in search of Polka Dot points and he gobbled up enough to move himself into second place before the final climb. Both Rolland and the break were working hard and kept the hard charging peloton at bay and then the clouds opened up.
Suddenly, the first real rain of the Tour had arrived, and that caused a lot of riders to suffer. In front, Rui Costa set off and caught Rolland, in search of his second win. Behind him, the break was thinned all over the mountain…
