2013 Tour de France Stage 15 Review: Froome conquers Ventoux, extends his overall lead

ChrisFroome laid further claim to becoming the 2013 TourdeFrance champion with a blistering climb up Mont Ventoux. The Kenyan-born Brit taking stage fifteen victory in dominant style.

On one of the most famous climbs in cycling, Froome produced a performance that will long be remembered.

Froome chased down an outlandish attack by Movistar’s Columbian sensation, Nairo Quintana, just before reaching the top of Ventoux, then blew away his young counter-part to take a memorable win. On the way, a rapid acceleration with seven kilometres to go burnt off Alberto Contador, who was once thought to be the best climber and Grand Tour rider of his generation. The move was one of the most blistering turns of speed you will ever see, and to do so at a more difficult section of the climb was just awe-inspiring.
