Gerrans Takes Stage 3, Bakelants Keeps the Yellow Jersey

As soon as the flag was waved, the breakaways began. The riders tackled a series of 4 climbs over today’s 145.5 km (≈91 miles) course on the island of Corsica. Elevation ran from as low as 52 ft above sea level up to over 1450 ft above sea level.

Team Orica-GreenEdge of Australia made sure to show that it was a team to watch out for as Simon Gerrans was the first to cross the line of Stage 3 today in Corsica and as Simon Clarke battled for the Polka-Dot Jersey on today’s climbs

Team RadioShack-Leopard was consistent in today’s ride, holding on to fist place in the team classification. Team rider, Jan Bakelants, who crossed first in Stage 2, holds on to the Yellow Jersey with a 1-second lead overall. BMC Racing Team of America listed in second in the team standings.
